Autistic teens experience social connection when they meet and connect with other autistic teens. Belonging to a group can provide many benefits including friendship, increased confidence, increased self belief, and acceptance of and pride in autistic identity.
AGM focuses on the individual strengths of teens and celebrates them. Mentors nurture a caring and supportive culture, encouraging groups to develop unique identities based on their members. Mentors gently foster participation and connection through groups' shared experiences of autism.
AGM emphasises optimism and hope, and embraces neurodiversity. Mentoring groups aim to uplift and motivate group members, to guide them on a journey of self development, knowledge and understanding, and to help them continue along, or to take their first steps down, the road of self fulfilment.
